Easter is over, and now summer is close. Seasons are changing, and so is life. After all, the one constant of time is change.
Right now, I am in the middle of a change in my own life. My ministry assistant of nearly three and a half years, Rebecca, who has helped me with every blog that I have ever written for Charisma, is moving on to an exciting new assignment in another state. Izabelle is her replacement and has been in training now for nearly two months. I am looking forward to all that lies ahead, but I am also sad to bid farewell to the end of a wonderful working relationship.
Jesus tells us that whatever our season in life, we will experience the joys and the sadness of change. Even in seasons of change, God will use us if we are willing to submit to His Holy Spirit. He is always there, ready for us with a call to action. How, then, should we respond?
There are specific actions we can take in order not to miss out on what God wants to do in and through us. The first is a question. We need to be asking ourselves regularly, Is it time for change? The Bible teaches us that from glory to glory, He is constantly changing us. Just as the northern part of our planet is being renewed right now in spring and summer, God is changing us. We should anticipate it, not dread it.
Once we understand that it is a season of change, we must accept the change in our lives! We cannot drag our feet and pray for everything to remain the same. We must be content and flexible. We must do our best to understand this new season that we are entering into and prepare ourselves for it.
The last part of change is a move to action, because the Holy Spirit is God in action. Once we know that it is a season of change and prepare ourselves accordingly for it, we must act on it. We cannot remain stagnant and unmoving. We must allow the Holy Spirit to move in our lives as we move in our new seasons.
To make it even simpler, think of this process in these terms:
- Ask, "Is that so?"
- Respond, "That's so!"
- Action, then do so!
Jesus said you don't take new wine and put it in an old wineskin. Instead, you only take new wine and put it in a new or renewed wineskin (see Mark 2:22.) There are a lot of different ways of understanding this Scripture, but for our purposes, we can understand it this way: If you keep doing what you've always done without considering the new things God is doing and wants to do in your life, things will eventually fall apart. But if you are willing to be renewed and remain supple and submissive to His will and purposes, God will use you mightily in whatever season of life you are in.
So I ask you, what is the Holy Spirit asking you to put into action? Listen to His voice, and He will lead you.
Have an awesome day! You are beautiful. I see Jesus in you!
