One thing seems certain about the War Room movie. People leave the theater with great intentions to improve their prayer life.
But, I've seen this before, haven't you? Our churches are filled with people with soft hearts and good intentions. Our sermons cause the kindle wood to flare up and prayer lives are improved for a season. Of course, there is nothing like a walk through a valley to encourage a prayer life.
My question today is, "Who will pray the leader's prayer?"
All leaders have a great need, even an obligation to pray for their organization and their teams. The cry for a leader's prayer is not the one made in public with powerful oratory skills but the one made in the closet for the good of the whole.
I want to know that my leader prays for me and the organization.
We need someone to shout out ...
"This company is ours. Devil, you have no place in this building, get out, in the name of Jesus."
We need a foot-stomping leader to pray ...
"We thank You for provision and give You all the glory. Give us this day our daily bread that we might serve others. Send us people who don't know You. Help us to keep our calendars open to Your divine appointments. Let us never be too busy to stop, listen and pray. We are not ashamed of the gospel in this company. We know You Jesus and we know what You can and will do through us. Help us to lead others as we serve others. Teach me to be a servant leader."
We need to pray that God would send workers for our fields ...
"Father, send us men and women who know You and serve You. We pray for gifted, effectual workers who are called by You, to serve in this place. We pray for men and women of a good reputation who hear Your voice and will submit to godly leadership. Send us workers full of the spirit and with a strong desire to serve rather than be served."
We need a leader to pray ...
"Father, not my will but Your will be done. Open our eyes that we might see Jesus in every opportunity set before us. We pray that You will open and close doors according to Your perfect will. Lead us beside still waters. Grant us peace in our valleys. Have Your way in all of our dealings with those You send us. Lord Jesus, teach us to pray more for others than we do for ourselves.
"Teach us to pray the leader's prayer."
May our boardrooms be war rooms.
"He told them a parable to illustrate that it is necessary always to pray and not lose heart" (Luke 18:1).
