Flowers are Spiritual Gifts

Rose of Sharon
The Lord shines bright. (Dr. Steve Greene )

Jesus once referred to himself as "the rose of Sharon, the lily of the Valley."

The prophet Isaiah referred to the rose:

"... it shall blossom abundantly

and rejoice even with joy and singing.

The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,

the excellency of Carmel and Sharon.

They shall see the glory of the Lord

and the excellency of our God" (Isa 35:2).

Most of us like flowers. When Jesus called himself the Rose of Sharon, he was giving a particular reference to the beautiful Sharon plains near the sea. Of all the beauty in the region, Jesus was the rose of roses, the bread of life, the king of kings.

It's interesting that He compared himself to His creation. He created every leaf of beauty in Sharon. Is it any wonder that the creator made us in His image?

I think of this scripture often when I photograph flowers or give them away. I think that flowers are one of the most powerful gifts to give to others. Flowers are a spiritual gift. They are created for the purpose of adding beauty to life. A gift of flowers always seems to stir a smile.

As a pastor, I've had to officiate too many funerals. I always noticed the flowers. So many! So beautiful! I often asked the question to mourners, "How many of you sent flowers to her when she was living?"

Give flowers to the living. Let the rose of Sharon speak through His creation.

Scripture:

"I am the rose of Sharon, the lily of the valleys" (Song of Solomon, 2:1).

Platform Tip No. 139

The more you chase validation as a leader, the more it tends to run away.  Most things run away when chased.

We can't chase people to bring them to our platform.  We can't chase someone who needs help.

We can only provide a message and a path to possible answers.

People hang around when trust is built.  Trust is built by being there.
