Why We Are Now Living in the Hour of Commitment

Satan's "hour" occurred when Jesus was dying on the cross. The serpent was bruising the heel of God's Son.

Jesus' "hour" occurred when He came back from the grave in His bodily Resurrection, crushing the head of the serpent.

And now, at this very moment, we're living in the hour of commitment. Meaning, between the first and Second Coming of Christ, God has granted us an extended period of time—the length of which no man knows—to surrender our lives entirely to King Jesus and trust him for our redemption and salvation.

Paul put it this way:

"Time [Greek, kairos] is running out and you know it is a strategic hour [Greek, hora] in human history. It is time [Greek, nun] for us to wake up!" (Rom. 13:11a, TPT).

In that one verse, Paul makes three different references to time using three different Greek words. He declares that our current season (kairos) is not going to last forever. Therefore this is a strategic hour. It is urgent that we wake up.

We who follow Christ ought to live with a continual sense of urgency about the Great Commandment (love God and love others) and the Great Commission (make disciples of all the nations).

And we ought to feel that same sense of urgency about our stewardship of our time. We have but one life to live for God's glory. We have this one opportunity to train, on this side of eternity, for our forever life in his presence in heaven.

The time to come to faith in Christ is now. The time to grow deeper in your faith is now.

The time to share your faith with a lost world is now. This is the hour of commitment, and we won't see another. It's time to wake up!
